Dumb things people say

Have you ever stopped and reflected on some of the comments people make in conversation?  If you really pay attention you’ll start hearing some really dumb comments, and they’re usually justifications for people not succeeding.

When you hear these comments, do you ever reflect on what the real intended meaning is, or do you play along and go along with the heard mentality?

So what are some of the dumb statements, and what do they really mean:

• “Patience is a virtue” really means “I’m lazy and in no hurry to do anything”
  
• “I don’t have time” really means “I use this excuse for everything when I can’t think of anything better”
  
• “Money won’t make you happy” really means “I’m poor and lazy and haven’t figured out how to work yet”
  
• “That’s impossible” really means “It’s too hard, so I give up”
  
• “I hate Monday’s” really means “I have zero direction in my life”
  
• “TGIF” really means “drinking and partying are more important than living and succeeding”
  
• “I’ll try” really means “I’m a quitter”
  
• “I’m only human” really means “I’m a walking billboard for all that’s wrong”
  
• “That’s not my job” really means “I’m a follower, not a leader, and I like to point the finger elsewhere”
  
• “It takes money to make money” really means “I have no courage or work ethic, so I make excuses"
  

This week’s article is fun, yet it highlights a bigger issues.  When people say these and other dumb things they really are making excuses for a life of failure.  Don’t engage them, call out BS and challenge them to step up to reality.
